Brow Lift

Say goodbye to your sagging brows and hello to brighter eyes! Plan on a couple weeks of downtime for most brow lifts.

With aging and thinning of skin, the forehead and eyebrow area are common places for skin to begin drooping. This drooping skin can cause you to look tired or upset, even when you feel well rested and happy. A brow lift addresses areas of concern on the upper third of the face and can significantly restore a more youthful appearance. This procedure removes excess, sagging skin on the forehead and repositions underlying muscle structures, revealing a younger-looking forehead area.

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift or browplasty, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that elevates drooping eyebrows that create an angry expression and may even obstruct vision. This can also remove deep lines that run across the forehead.

Dr. Stubbs offers patients a natural and beautiful result from a brow lift. Small incisions are made in the hairline, so there are no visible scars from this procedure and most patients find recovery to be quick and manageable!

Benefits of a Brow Lift:

  1. Restores Youthful Appearance: Lifts sagging brows and smooths forehead wrinkles, resulting in a refreshed and youthful look.

  2. Enhances Eye Area: Reduces hooding of the upper eyelids and improves the appearance of the eyes.

  3. Improves Facial Expressions: Eliminates the tired, angry, or sad appearance caused by drooping brows.

  4. Long-Lasting Results: Provides durable improvements, helping you maintain a youthful look for years.

  5. Boosts Confidence: Enhances overall facial harmony, improving self-esteem and confidence.

Types of Brow Lifts:

  1. Traditional (Coronal) Brow Lift: Involves an incision behind the hairline, stretching from ear to ear, to lift the forehead and brow. This method is effective for significant lifting and smoothing.

  2. Endoscopic Brow Lift: Uses several small incisions behind the hairline through which an endoscope (a thin, flexible tube with a camera) is inserted to lift the brow. This method is less invasive and results in shorter recovery times and minimal scarring.

  3. Temporal (Limited Incision) Brow Lift: Focuses on the outer part of the brow, with incisions made within the hairline above the temples. This is a good option for patients needing only lateral brow elevation.

  4. Direct Brow Lift: Involves incisions directly above the eyebrows, suitable for patients with significant brow drooping and less concern about visible scars.

The Brow Lift Procedure:

  1. Consultation: Discuss your goals, medical history, and expectations with Dr. Stubbs to determine the best type of brow lift for your needs.

  2. Anesthesia: Local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia is typically used to ensure comfort during the procedure.

  3. Incisions: The location and length of incisions depend on the type of brow lift being performed.

  4. Lifting and Repositioning: Dr. Stubbs lifts and repositions the underlying muscle and tissue structures, removing any excess skin.

  5. Closure: Incisions are closed with sutures or skin adhesives. Dr. Stubbs may use special clips or bandages to support the healing process.

What causes the brows to sag?

Who is a good candidate for a Brow Lift?

There are many factors that contribute to sagging brows. Gravity alone plays a factor, as does the natural loss of volume, collagen and elastin we experience as we age. Sun exposure, screen time and frequent scowling can also lead to sagging brows.

Anyone who has eyebrows that sit lower than they’d like or obstruct their vision could benefit from a brow lift. Additionally, if you have forehead lines or the “angry 11s” between your eyebrows, the procedure could be advantageous for you.

Combination procedures

While you might be happy to get a brow lift on its own, it pairs great with other cosmetic facial procedures. Many people opt to get a mini facelift at the same time to address sagging in the lower face. Let Dr. Stubbs know your wishes so he can cater to your needs!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Brow lifts are tailored to the needs of the patient, and the price is tailored to the specifics of the procedure. This means there is no set cost. To know how much a brow lift will cost you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Stubbs. Expect your estimate to include the surgeon’s fee, anesthesia fee and facility/OR fee. It may include other costs as well.

  • If your eyebrows are sagging enough to reduce your field of vision, getting them lifted can open it back up. However, most people seek a brow lift before things reach this point. If your vision issues are related to things like nearsightedness or farsightedness, a brow lift will not make a difference.

  • Start with a quick search for brow lift surgeons near you and checking the best reviewed surgeons. Next, check out their websites to see their before and after photos of brow lift patients to see if there are some that align with your goals. Then schedule consultations with 2 to 3 surgeons you think will be a good fit and select the one who feels like the right partner for your surgery.

  • They should be hidden in your hair line, so they won’t be visible in most cases. You may find that you can feel them, though, since scar tissue tends to be raised. When they are fresh, they could be red enough to see, but over time, expect them to fade to the point where you no longer notice them.

  • There is no lower (or upper) age limit beyond being of legal age. Most people won’t see much benefit from a brow lift until they are in their late 20s or early 30s. The important thing is that you are healthy enough for surgery and have realistic expectations for how it will help you.
