What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a service offered as a way to reduce unwanted hair under the arms, in the bikini and buttock area, on arms, legs, abdomen and face. Our goal is to reduce the hair by 80 to 90 percent, and what hair remains is lighter and thinner.

How long do results take?

Body hair takes about six to nine treatments and facial hair takes about 9 to 12 treatments. The treatments are typically scheduled four to six weeks apart. Patients with dark, thick hair often see the best results while those with white, very blonde or light red hair often respond poorly. Treatments are done in the office with topical anesthetic and no down time. Our laser is also one of the few that is FDA approved for darker skin tones.

How do I prepare for Laser Hair Removal?

There isn’t a lot that you need to do; we aim to handle most of the work for our patients. However, there are a few things you have to do prior to your appointment.

  • Stop plucking and waxing at least 6 weeks before your appointment. Laser hair removal works by targeting the roots of the hair, so pulling them out makes this treatment ineffective.

  • Get a clean shave the night before your appointment. Any hair that is above the skin will burn, which can hurt and also doesn’t smell so great.

  • Skip the fake and real tanning for several weeks before your appointment. This will help prevent discoloration from interaction with the lasers.

  • Inform us about any medications you’ve been taking, including supplements. Some can have negative interactions with the lasers.

  • Arrive with clean skin. This means no makeup, lotions, creams or perfumes.
